The Simpsons brain trust -- creator Matt Groening, head writer Al Jean, and producer James L. Brooks -- aren't satisfied with just a hit movie on their hands. The men told the more than 6,000 fans attending a Simpsons panel at the ComicCon convention in San Diego Saturday (July 28th) that the next season of their cartoon comedy will continue the hot streak created by the movie.
Kelsey Grammer's character, Sideshow Bob, will reappear in the upcoming nineteenth season, along with his former Frasier family, guest stars John Mahoney and David Hyde Pierce. Jack Black also joins the cast as the owner of Springfield's newest comic book shop, and Dan Rather and Jon Stewart are on board for an election-themed episode.
The Simpsons' new season starts September 23rd. The Simpsons Movie is now in theaters and raking in the dough.
Voice actress Nancy Cartwright, a.k.a. Bart Simpson, said producers outdid themselves with the movie: "They use two microphones instead of one because it's a bigger space and they want that sound to be a lot clearer. The animation is better. They've got a bigger budget, they can do more work, the competition, it's beautiful."
