Nicole Richie is following in the footsteps of her former BFF Paris Hilton by heading to LA County jail. The bone-thin "celebutante" was sentenced to four days behind bars for driving under the influence of drugs. She also has to attend a rehab program, pay $2,048, and be on probation for three years as part of her plea agreement with prosecutors.

Richie didn't say much during her sentencing on Friday (July 27th), but she got an earful from her judge, who told her she was lucky that no one was "killed or maimed" when she drove the wrong way on an L.A. freeway in December. Should she ever be caught breaking probation, the possibly pregnant Simple Life star will be sent directly to jail.

Richie is the latest in a string of young white celebrity females in legal trouble for driving violations involving alcohol and/or drugs. Paris Hilton just finished dealing with her legal mess, while the pals' "frenemy," Lindsay Lohan, is in the early stages of a DUI-fueled calamity.

Richie must report to jail by September 28th. She can serve her time in any local jail that'll accept her within L.A. County.

Richie's boyfriend, Good Charlotte singer Joel Madden, accompanied her to court.
