Chris Botti Buys New Manhattan Apartment

Trumpet star Chris Botti is homeless no more. The busy road warrior and popular recording artist has just purchased a Manhattan apartment in the SoHo district that's worth about $4 million, according to SmoothVibes.com. The toney apartment was previously owned by Sting, with whom Botti has toured several times as an opener and as a member of Sting's band.

Botti, who has been on the road almost continuously for the last seven years, famously gave up his previous New York City apartment and put his things into storage back in 1999 to accommodate his busy touring schedule. During time off, he had taken to living in hotels, most recently the Big Apple's hip 60 Thompson hotel.

Just last year, Botti told us that while he loved performing, he had very little time for a social life: "For sure, the one thing I will say and it's really come to pass in the last three years is that I don't have a life, you know. I mean, there's nothing that I do -- if you took away my time on the road with my band performing or making an album, I was home in New York like a total of four weeks last year, you know, and that's it."

Despite having a brand-new address, the trumpeter is still in the midst of a tour. He currently has three albums on Billboard's jazz charts: Chris Botti Live With Orchestra & Special Guests, a special shot in 2005 and aired on PBS stations earlier this year; To Love Again: The Duets; and the gold-certified When I Fall In Love.
