Video Game Makers Unite to Create Super Game Label
Video game maker Vivendi has agreed to buy a portion of Activision, a move that would result in the largest independent video game publisher and distributor in the world. Vivendi is best known for the game World Of Warcraft, which has more than 9 million players worldwide. Activision's largest video game titles include the Tony Hawk skateboarding franchise, the Guitar Hero franchise, and the Call Of Duty games. The new agreement calls for Vivendi to buy a controlling stake in Activision. Vivendi will then fold its current video game department into Activision's. This would give Vivendi a 68% share of Activision.
This new conglomerate will surpass Electronics Arts as the largest video game publisher.
