The 34th Art in the Park to Benefit Common Ground Sanctuary
The 34th Art in the Park to benefit Common Ground Sanctuary, one of Birmingham’s prestigious art events, will be held 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13 and 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 14. Admission to the juried fair held at Shain Park is free.
More than 200 artists from around the country will showcase original work in the areas of ceramics, jewelry, paintings, sculpture, photography, glass and more. Other attractions include, live musical entertainment, delicious food, and artist demonstrations and children’s drop-in workshops. There will also be a silent auction benefiting Common Ground Sanctuary.
Art in the Park is the principal fundraiser for Common Ground Sanctuary, an Oakland County-based nonprofit crisis intervention agency. Proceeds fund the agency’s community programs including, a 24-hour resource and crisis helpline (800.231.1127), shelters for youths in crisis, family counseling, support and education groups and outreach to homeless and runaway youth.
Helping people in need for more than 30 years, Common Ground Sanctuary's mission is to provide services to youths, adults and families in crisis. The agency's 24-hour crisis hotline, youth and family services, emergency psychiatric services and other programs throughout Oakland County are a lifeline for runaway and homeless youths, families in crisis, victims of crime, people with mental illness and others in critical situations. Common Ground Sanctuary serves more than 35,000 individuals per year and is supported in part by local grants and contracts, the Oakland County Community Mental Health Authority and United Way for Southeastern Michigan.
