Rick Braun says jazz fans are practically predisposed to enjoying the sound of a trumpet and a tenor saxophone playing together, since the mighty horn section has been a major part of many famous musical ensembles. Braun melds his trumpet lines with the sax playing of colleague Richard Elliott on their new CD, R 'n' R.
Braun explained: "The combination of a trumpet and a tenor saxophone is probably one of the most natural combinations that there is. When you look back to the era of John Coltrane and Miles Davis, or Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, the Brecker Brothers. So many great combinations of trumpet and tenor. So, it's a wonderful sound and we were really excited to get to this project."
Braun and Elliott plan to continue performing their Jazz Attack shows through October. Braun then joins Peter White's White Christmas Tour, which kicks off November 24th.
