Ray Parker Jr.'s 'Ghostbusters' A Halloween Perennial
Guitarist and singer Ray Parker Jr. says he's amazed by the longevity of his soundtrack hit "Ghostbusters." Parker made a special guest appearance last night (October 30th) on NBC's Halloween-themed episode of The Singing Bee to perform the '80s classic.
Parker says that more than 20 years after hitting the top of the charts, he is still amazed at the worldwide phenomenon that was his hit "Ghostbusters" single. He told us: "It became a top five Halloween song. So every Halloween I get airplay, every Halloween it's on every record store thing and whatever you got. It has also kept me with the young kids. You go ask kids in elementary school right now, 'Do you know Ray Parker Jr.?' 'Aaah...' 'Who you gonna call?' 'Oh, yeah, Ghostbusters!' Then immediately I'm accepted. So I think it is the biggest blessing that could have ever happened was to write that little line, 'Who you gonna call.' (laughs) " .)
Parker's most recent CD release was last year's I'm Free featuring the smooth jazz single "Mismaloya Beach."
