Some progress is being made in the R. Kelly child pornography case, leading up to an actual trial. The "I'm A Flirt" singer made an appearance Friday (July 20th) in a Chicago courtroom for the beginning of jury selection, according to the Chicago Tribune. Attorneys on both sides presented their jury questionnaires to presiding Judge Vincent Gaughan in the case.
The next hearing was scheduled for Wednesday, (July 25th) at the Cook County Courthouse, where the opposing attorneys were expected to submit one questionnaire form to be filled out by potential jurors.
Kelly is charged with 14 counts of child pornography stemming from a 2002 videotape that allegedly shows him engaging in sexual acts with an underage girl.
Meanwhile, Kelly is set to release 10 new installments of his video saga Trapped In The Closet on DVD on August 21st. The Independent Film Channel is also set to broadcast all 12 of the original episodes in the coming weeks, and also stream the entire 22-installment series on the IFC Web site.
