Vocalist Queen Latifah lands at Number One on Billboard's Jazz Albums chart this week with Trav'lin' Light, her second album of pop and jazz vocals. The set also arrived at Number Six on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
The artist born Dana Owens shows off her pipes and her charm on an eclectic mix of tunes. The set includes versions of the bluesy "I Want A Little Sugar In My Bowl," the Antonio Carlos Jobim standard "Quiet Nights Of Quiet Stars," Peggy Lee's "I Love Being Here With You," Smokey Robinson's "What Love Has Joined Together," and the Pointer Sisters' hit "How Long (Betcha Got A Chick On The Side."
The set also includes "I Know Where I've Been," from the film Hairspray, which stars Latifah as Motormouth Maybelle.
Latifah's lead single from the set is a version of Phoebe Snow's "Poetry Man."
