The title track of Grammy winner Peabo Bryson's latest CD, Missing You, has become something of a theme song for troops stationed in Iraq, according to his label, Peak Records.
Peak was contacted this past summer by a retired Navy serviceman who broadcasts a Sunday radio show in Mosul, Iraq and needed music for his show. Among the albums sent to Iraq was an advance of Bryson's new CD, Missing You, and the station began airing the title track.
Bryson, known for classics like the duet "A Whole New World," "I'm So Into You," and "Feel The Fire," penned "Missing You" to express his feelings for his dearly departed mother and sister. It was also written for Bryson's son-in-law, who is currently stationed in Iraq.
According to the broadcaster, who is also a private contractor in Army Communications, the response to "Missing You" has been overwhelmingly positive, as it expresses what so many soldiers and their families feel when they are deployed.
Missing You is the veteran vocalist's first studio recording in eight years, and the 20th album of his career. It's also his first CD since signing to the Peak Records label.
Bryson has been booked aboard the Dave Koz & Friends At Sea Cruise, departing Fort Lauderdale on November 4th. He will also perform three special Colors Of Christmas shows at the Cerritos Center For The Performing Arts in California on December 14th, 15th, and 16th.
