Grey's Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes has good news for fans -- the show's upcoming fourth season will be devoid of the doom and gloom that pervaded the past season's storylines. Death and infidelity were big topics in Season Three, and those themes added to the backlash against the series from people already turned off by the program's behind-the-scenes drama with Isaiah Washington and T.R. Knight.
Rhimes acknowledged that Grey's "darker journey" was often testing for viewers, and she said in a press conference that the same won't happen in Season Four: "I think that the thing that I sort of came back to the season sort of mandating was that I wanted us to have a lot of fun. Like I felt like Season Three is a darker season, it just is. I mean, Meredith's mother died, George's father died, Meredith's step-mother died -- it was like a bloodbath. It was a necessary one but I want to feel, I want to get back to us enjoying it and having fun."
Grey's Anatomy returns with new episodes September 27th.
