Natalie Cole Promotes Album While Struggling Through Chemotherapy

Natalie ColeNatalie Cole is undergoing chemotherapy for hepatitis C, but she's not letting that stop her from promoting her new album, Still Unforgettable. She appeared on ABC's The View on September 10th, struggling to breathe and wearing a short wig to make up for the hair she's lost. Cole said, "First of all it's just so tiring, it really takes your breath away. It's a very, very debilitating treatment. I was diagnosed in February, I started the treatment in May. Your hair falls out, but this is cute."

Even though she was weak and had difficulty breathing, Cole managed to sing "Walkin' My Baby Back Home" from her new album. The album was released on September 9th.

Hepatitis C is a blood-borne infectious disease with few recognizable symptoms, though some patients complain of fatigue, joint pain, and nausea. Left untreated, the virus can damage the liver and be spread to others. Unlike hepatitis B, hepatitis C can be cleared up by anti-viral medicine. An estimated 150-200 million people worldwide are infected with hepatitis C.
