Two clans of werewolves clash over different views of their lifestyle. One group, led by Roswell's Jason Behr, embraces the werewolves' thirst for blood and guts. The second group considers their existance a curse, and goes all-out to protect a half-werewolf boy who may fulfill an ancient prophecy that could change their existence forever.
Jason Behr says Skinwalkers has a fresh approach to werewolves: "It's taken from the Native American lore of Skinwalkers, who are said to be able to put on the skin of an animal and become that animal, in this case a wolf. And I think that was just sort of the starting point for the writers to create their own sort of mythology; what if someone were to become addicted to that power? So, it's just, it's a very original take on werewolves."
Producer Stan Winston on the importance of performance in Skinwalkers: "Here's a character and a mythology and a creature that I have loved all my life based on actor's performances, given help by make-up artists and given help by filmmakers, but it's always been about that character and that performance."
