Singer and saxophonist Mindi Abair is busy promoting her latest CD, Stars, which features both instrumental and vocal tunes. The Florida-bred artist says that the hopeful, thoughtful, and inspirational lyrics on the songs came from her desire to escape from current social concerns.
She explained: "I look back on this past year, year and a half when I was making this CD, and I think that with the war, the elections, the recession, you know, everything going on, you know, I think I just wanted an escape and music was my escape, I wanted this happy place to go to in my mind and just write these songs about just escaping kinda the craziness that's going on for all of us."
Abair is at Number 11 on the smooth jazz radio chart with her single "Smile."
