Singer Michael McDonald will release a new album called Soul Speak on March 11th, mostly made up of covers. However, unlike his two previous bestselling covers collections, which focused on Motown songs, Soul Speak will cover a wider range of material.
McDonald explains: "I think what we wound up with are the songs that I actually remember along the way, you know, hearing as a kid and going into adulthood, that were records that just really impressed me when I first heard 'em on the radio, and the artists that did them. So you know, so that's largely what the record consists of, it's not so much just a Motown record as much as a wider collection of songs that turned my head around, so to speak."
The tracklisting for Soul Speak has not yet been revealed. McDonald does say it includes three original songs.
McDonald currently appears on the new album by Chaka Khan, titled Funk This! on a duet of his composition "You Belong To Me." His most recent CD release was actually the 2005 holiday set Through The Many Winters, which was available exclusively through Hallmark stores.
McDonald is continuing his fall tour, which concludes next week.

December 14 - Altoona, IA - Prairie Meadows Casino
December 16 - Prior Lake, MN - Mystic Lake Casino
December 18 - Kansas City, MO - Ameristar Hotel & Casino
December 20 - Denver, CO - Paramount Theatre
