Michael Lington Says He Doesn't Do Vacations

Saxophonist Michael Lington recently returned from a special flyaway vacation for Milwaukee smooth jazz listeners down to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The radio station-sponsored event was held January 6th through 13th at The Barcelo de Jolla resort at Puerto Vallarta's Mismaloya Beach. Lington and Rendezvous Entertainment label mate Brian Simpson both performed during the event.

While those on the trip no doubt luxuriated in the Mexican sun, sea, and sand, Lington likely multi-tasked in between shows. The Danish-born saxophonist, born under the mercurial sign of Gemini, says he hates taking the typical vacation because he never likes to slow down. Also, he feels he doesn't need time off from his "job," as he told us: "I don't like vacations. No. I go to a place and lay and do absolutely nothing -- I can't take it. I just, I got things to do. I know it sounds crazy. But I guess it's because probably I already do what I love to do, so I don't really look at my job as a job, you know?"

Lington is continuing to promote his 2006 album A Song For You. His next performance will be February 23rd at the Annenberg Theater in Palm Springs, California.
