Buble says that for Call Me Irresponsible, he wanted to choose more obscure material than the standards he had recorded for 2005's popular It's Time album. He explained: "It's funny though 'cause the last time -- you know, even the last record, which I really liked, but when I played it for people they said, 'Oh, I know this song, oh this song, I know that song, oh, I know this song.' Well on this record, that's not how it is. They don't know every song."
