Maysa Makes A Musical 'Metamorphosis' on New Album

MaysaSinger Maysa is preparing for the October 14th release of Metamorphosis. The project finds the Baltimore native returning to performing original material that spans R&B, jazz, Brazilian, and dance.

Guesting on the set are flutist Najee, guitarist Nick Colionne, and drummer/producer Michael White, In addition, the project features a tune called "Walk Away" that was co-written by Grammy nominee Ledisi, and aznother tune called "Conversation With The Universe," that was created by Global Noize, which is the team of Jason Miles and DJ Logic.

Metamorphosis also includes a tune titled "Let's Figure It Out (A Song For Bluey)," that refers to Bluey Maunick, the driving force behind Incognito, the group that Maysa has recorded with for more than a decade.

"My vision for this album was to change the music a little bit to be in line with the way I feel spiritually and emotionally," says Maysa. "On a couple of my previous albums I was playing it a little too safe. I'm not afraid to express myself now."
