Lindsay Lohan Sued Over High-Speed Chase

Lindsay Lohan is on the receiving end of a lawsuit stemming from her high-speed chase through Los Angeles' Westside in July. Tracie Rice was a passenger in one of the cars Lohan was pursuing, and accuses the actress of assault and infliction of emotional distress. Rice's lawsuit claims that she and driver Michelle Peck were "convinced that their lives were in danger and that they had to outrun the pursuing car or they might be killed."

Rice seeks unspecified damages. She said in a statement Tuesday (August 14th), "What Miss Lohan did that night was extremely dangerous and reprehensible. Someone could have easily been killed or seriously hurt because of her irresponsible decisions."

Witnesses say a loaded Lohan took off with an acquaintance's SUV to chase after an assistant who had just quit on her. The assistant made it to her mother's house, after which Lohan switched tactics and went after the mom.

She'll be in court later this month to face charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, cocaine possession, bringing a controlled substance into custody, and driving on a suspended license.

Lohan is reportedly in rehab right now, where the Chicago Sun-Times reports she's learning to knit, needlepoint, and quilt.
