Vocalist Ledisi unveils her Verve Records label debut CD, Lost & Found, today (August 28th). The new set features original tunes penned by the singer with producers Rex Rideout, Jamey Jaz, Sundra Manning, and others. The first single is the tune "Alright."
Ledisi has been performing for several years and released two treasured independent CDs with musical partner Manning: Soulsinger in 2001 and Feeling Orange But Sometimes Blue in 2002. She has also been featured on a number of compilation and tribute CDs, including Forever, For Always, For Luther, We All Love Ella, and Interpretations: Celebrating The Music Of Earth, Wind & Fire.
Asked if being considered a new artist now is problematic for her, Ledisi said no: "Well, I'm not upset about it. It's the first major label debut, then it is on a mainstream, it is the first record. And I don't mind being called new because in a way I am kinda new right now. My energy is new, my outlook is new, you know, all this stuff is new, this whole process is new for me. But I definitely want people to revisit the older records as well. "
