Saxophone star Kenny G. has joined the lineup for the All Star Smooth Jazz Cruise pre-show, taking place in January in San Diego. The world's best-selling instrumentalist joins an event lineup that now includes Fourplay, Patti Austin, Kool & The Gang, The Spinners and the Four Tops.
The 2008 All Star Cruise, hosted by Norman Brown, is set for January 19th through 26th. The event kicks off with a pre-cruise festival at the Town And Country resort in San Diego before the ship departs for Cabo San Lucas and Ensenada, Mexico.
Kenny won't be setting sail with the rest of the performers, which is probably a good thing, since the popular musician has a regular daily schedule that includes at least half an hour of playing even before he eats breakfast: "You wake me up in the morning, I will bounce out of bed. I'm excited about waking up, not just 'cause of music -- just about everything. And so I'm fresh. Usually I'm much fresher before breakfast. If I have something important to play, I try to wake up, drink a big cup of water so I'm not feeling to hungry and run down to the studio and actually perform something five or six times, like it might be one of these songs? What does that take, it might take me half an hour. Just get those performances out of my body. Then I go have breakfast." &
Host Norman Brown will be joined on board ship by special guests Boney James, Nick Colionne, Shilts, Larry Carlton, Acoustic Alchemy, Warren Hill, Steve Oliver, Alan Hewitt, Marion Meadows, Chieli Minucci, and Paul Taylor and others.
