Singer and songwriter John Legend, who just wrapped a national tour with spirits maker Baileys, is featured in an hour-long special titled Baileys Entertainment Presents Get Together With John Legend on the TV One Network. The broadcast includes concert performances, exclusive behind-the-scenes footage, and candid interviews with the five-time Grammy winner.
Also featured on the broadcast are artists from his new Homeschool Records label, including U.K. breakout hip hop star Estelle, vaudeville-style performers The James Gang, and R&B vocalist Vaughn Anthony.
The concert footage featured in the special were filmed at Legend's November 9th tour stop in New York.
Legend performs his smash single "Save Room," from his sophomore CD Once Again. The tune used some samples from the '60s pop tune "Stormy" to create a retro vibe, and Legend says he added some other elements, such as the vocal embellishments, to add to the "groovy" feel of the tune. He added that he wanted it to be: "Relaxed and cool and sexy, with elements of campiness, like the 'by up bah bah.' You know, it's like intentionally kind or, it's a little bit funny, the style we did it in. I was doing that on purpose like with a sense of irony, like knowing that the song was obviously not in this era (laughs)." .)
Baileys Get Together With John Legend will debut on the TV One cable network December 16th at 9 p.m. ET, repeating at midnight.
Legend is featured on the new CD August Rush -- Music From The Motion Picture. He performs the tune "Someday."
