Jessy J's 'Tequila Moon' Marked Seven Weeks At Number One

Jessy JSaxophonist Jessy J has made an impressive debut. The singer and multi-instrumentalist just tied sax star Kenny G for the most weeks at Number One on the smooth jazz chart -- seven weeks running -- with "Tequila Moon," the title track from her Peak Records debut CD.

Jessy got a hand on the project from hit-making producer Paul Brown, and also did her share of public appearances and performances to get the word out. While you can most often catch her playing with a live band, many of her promo performances were played to track, as she did at a CD release party back in May.

Jessy explained: "I played four songs to track. I think I'm getting used to it now because of when I did the Smooth Jazz Cruise I also played to track in the lounge. I also practice with it a lot at home, so it's second nature now."

Jessy is currently performing dates with her own band, with Guitars & Saxes, and with Michael Bolton as a member of the Sugar Horns.

She'll be performing next with mentor Paul Brown on July 25th at the KQXT Jazz Festival in San Antonio, Texas.
