Jessy J Says 'Tequila Moon' Hit Came Together Quickly

Jessy JSaxophonist Jessy J is celebrating her first Number One smooth jazz single, "Tequila Moon." The tune is the first single released from her very first album, also titled Tequila Moon.

The California-bred musician, singer, and dancer says that the tune came together almost magically during an unplanned visit to producer Paul Brown's studio one day. She says Brown had come up with the bass line and asked her to come up with a melody line over it.

Jessy explained: "And I stopped by his house, I had my horn, He's like, 'Let's jam for a minute. You know, I thought of this cool riff, I wanted to see how you sound over it.' So he just started off with a chord. And then we had always talked about how we wanted the CD to have a laidback, sexy chill vibe, you know, flavor of Latin music. So we started playing, just jamming in D minor, and it came together!"

Jessy J is currently performing selected dates in the Guitars & Saxes tour, where she fills in on both saxophone and flute. For dates, go to jessyj.com.
