Even though she's got a hot album out and has toured with top musicians, saxophonist Jessy J says there are still some people who have trouble getting past the fact that she's a woman. She tells AllAboutJazz.com, "Every now and then there's someone who doesn't know what I do and they see me holding my case and think I'm a groupie or something." She adds, "I get a kick out of telling them, 'no, I'm in the band. I'm playing.'"
Jessy also says that because of the success of her sophomore album, "Tequila Moon," her life is very different than it was six months ago. She spends a lot of time traveling, promoting her album and performing. She's not giving herself much downtime either. She says, "In my free time I find myself promoting it on my Web site and MySpace page."
