Actress Jada Pinkett Smith will receive special recognition by Essence magazine at the first-ever Essence Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon, taking place February 21st in Los Angeles. The star-studded event will honor three Hollywood women who have helped to change and inspire positive images of Black women in television and film.
Pinkett-Smith will be honored as an actress, director and producer for her role as creator of her production company 100% Woman as well as in Overbrook Entertainment, where she created and executive produced the CW sitcom All Of Us with her husband Will Smith. Overbrook is also producing The Human Contract, which marks the debut of Pinkett Smith as a writer and director.
She is also the lead singer of pop/rock band Wicked Wisdom; author of the children's book Girls Hold Up This World; one of the primary investors in the skin-care line Carol's Daughter; and one of the founders of the Will and Jada Smith Family Foundation.
Other honorees for the Essence Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon will be announced later.
