The soundtrack to the upcoming Soul Men movie features both classic and brand-new tracks by the late Isaac Hayes. New tracks also feature Samuel L. Jackson, John Legend, and the late Bernie Mac, who all star in the film. The Soul Men soundtrack is set for release November 4th on Stax Records.
The recording also features vocal efforts by the film's lead actress, Sharon Leal, as well as tracks by Anthony Hamilton, Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings, Chris Pierce & Leela James, MeShell NdegeOcello, Ryan Shaw, The Sugarman 3 featuring Lee Field, and Eddie Floyd, among others.
Soul Men marks the last screen appearance by Hayes, who died August 10th at age 65, and Mac, who passed just one day later at age 50.
Soul Men follows two singers, played by Mac and Jackson, traveling to a reunion of their fictitious singing group The Real Deal with its now successful former lead singer, played by Legend.
The comedy, directed by Malcolm D. Lee, is due in theaters on November 7th.
