A tribute to the music and artistry of Herbie Hancock by keyboardist John Beasley will be among the first CD releases from a brand-new label called Resonance Records, which was launched late last year. The label is part of the non-profit Rising Jazz Stars Foundation, which was formed in 2005 to help jazz artists reap a greater return from their recordings.
Beasley's still untitled tribute will also feature bassist Christian McBride, drummer Jeff "Tain" Watts, and trumpeter Roy Hargrove. The album is due in March.
Beasley's previous project was 2005's One Live Night, which he released independently.
Resonance Records will also feature the Heirloom Series, which will feature reissues and historically significant works.
