Iggy is apparently not the first dog that Ellen DeGeneres has adopted and then given away. The New York Post is reporting that the talk show host re-gifted a pup given to her by Los Angeles producer Kerri Randles after two months. "She may have had it for much less time than that," said Randles. "I only say two months because that's when I called to check on the dog and found out she no longer had it. I was totally shocked, I thought she was out of her mind."
Randles claims that Ellen seemed like the perfect owner for a mutt named Stormy until she faced a four-hour questioning session by her staff and crew, who then proceeded to play with the dog "as if it were a new extension of Ellen." Afterwards Ellen told her she'd decided to keep him, which Randles learned she hadn't after a call to check up on the pooch.
Howard Stern claimed on his Sirius radio show that he'd heard she'd done this nine times before.
Ellen initially adopted Iggy, but when he did not get along with her cats, gave him to the hairdresser's family, unaware that she was required to notify Mutts and Moms of the transfer. When they called to check up on the pooch and discovered his whereabouts, Iggy was removed from his new home.
A day after tearfully pleading for the return of a pet dog, DeGeneres was told by adoption agency Mutts and Moms that the pooch she gave to her hairdresser's family would not be coming back to live with them. Ellen went public with her ordeal after the agency took four-month-old Iggy from the family because the transfer was illegal under the company's contract.
