Guitarist Doc Powell Planning Benefit Concert To Save Africa's Children
Busy session guitarist and solo artist Doc Powell is spearheading a star-studded Los Angeles benefit show to help the non-profit organization Save Africa's Children. The first annual Save Africa's Children Benefit Music Festival will be held September 26th at the West Angeles Church in Los Angeles.
Slated to perform at the event are Kirk Whalum, Peanuts Whalum, Pieces Of A Dream, and more to come.
Save Africa's Children is an organization that supports services for orphaned children across the continent. Powell was powerfully impacted by the work of the organization during a 2001 trip to Kenya with the founder of Save Africa's Children, Charles E. Blake, who is also the pastor of the West Angeles Church.
Powell's most recent CD was 2006's Doc Powell, featuring his cover of the Carole King hit "It's Too Late."
