Rapper Foxy Brown, who has been in jail since August 22nd, got some bad news on Friday (September 7th). Criminal Court Judge Melissa Jackson sentenced the performer to a year behind bars for violating the terms of her probation. Brown, who is on probation for assaulting two manicurists in 2004, could be released from prison after eight months for good behavior.
The Associated Press reports that during the hearing Brown begged for another chance. She said, "I'm willing to do whatever I need to do to change. I realize that's not where I want to be. It's humbled me in ways I never imagined."
Judge Jackson told the rapper, "Ms. Marchand (Foxy Brown), it's too little, too late. I'm glad you're learning something; that's a positive......I'm not going to give you any more chances. I hope you turn your life around and never again have to stand in a court of law."
Brown was taken into custody last month after she was arrested for assaulting her neighbor, Arlene Raymond, during an argument over how loud the rapper was playing her car stereo. Brown allegedly struck Raymond with a cell phone. On Friday she was officially indicted and charged with assault, attempted assault and criminal possession of a weapon for the July 30th confrontation.
According to Judge Jackson, Brown violated her probation by leaving the state without permission; moving her residence from Brooklyn, New York to Mahwah, New Jersey without permission; failing to notify the department of an arrest in Mahwah; failing to report to probation officers, and dropping court-ordered anger management sessions with a psychologist.
Brown also violated the terms of her probation when she left the state without permission in February. She was arrested in Florida for allegedly throwing glue at a beauty supply store owner.
