The group Four80East makes its debut on the Native Language label on April 24th with the new album, En Route. The project is being previewed by the single "Noodle Soup," coming to radio in the U.S. next week.
Started as a side project for busy multi-instrumentalist Rob DeBoer and drummer Tony Grace -- otherwise known as production crew Boomtang -- Four80East is known for delivering jazz-inflected, U.K.-style groove music. Their previous albums include 2002's Round Three, 2001's Nocturnal, and their 1998 debut, simply called The Album, which featured the smooth jazz hit "Eastside."
The Canadian group has been nominated for three awards at this year's Canadian Smooth Jazz Awards: Best Group/Duo, Best Keyboardist for DeBoer, and Best Original Composition for "Noodle Soup," which has already been released in Canada. The group will perform at the awards ceremony, set for April 27th in Mississauga, Ontario.
