Fattburger's Carl Evans Jr. Faces Health Crisis

Keyboardist Carl Evans Jr., a founding member of San Diego-based smooth jazz group Fattburger, has been facing some serious health complications due to diabetes. The musician underwent surgery on January 1st, a follow-up to surgery back on December 10th to remove his left leg below the knee. Several benefit shows are scheduled to help defray the costs of Evans' surgeries and future care, according to SmoothVibes.com.

The Anthology club in San Diego will host two concerts on January 20th featuring an array of local musicians, including bassist Nathan East of Fourplay, saxophonist Charles McPherson, trumpeters Brian Lynch and Gilbert Castellanos, and keyboardist Rob Whitlock. All proceeds will benefit the Carl Evans Jr. Health Relief Fund through Washington Mutual bank.

Another performance is being organized for February 10th at Humphrey's. The show will feature Fattburger, which now features guitarist Evan Marks, bassist Mark Hunter, drummer Kevin Koch and percussionist Tommy Aros.

Fans who wish to contribute directly to the Carl Evans Jr. Health Relief Fund may do so at any Washington Mutual Bank. Please go to www.fattburger.com for further information.
