Smooth jazz saxophonist Euge Groove scores another top-charting hit, as his tune "Born 2 Groove" lands in the Number One position on the national smooth jazz airplay chart. The tune is the title track from his latest Narada Jazz CD.
Born 2 Groove follows Groove's 2005 album Just Feels Right, and is his fifth solo set overall.
The artist has been alternating between his a solo career and a busy schedule as a sideman. In past years the onetime Tower Of Power horn player toured Europe with Italian pop artist Eros Ramazotti, Brit rocker Joe Cocker, Tina Turner, Richard Marx, and the Eurythmics, among others. He admits it's a tough balance: "The staple of my income has been going out on these year, year-and-a-half long tours and that does not go hand in hand with promoting your own record and really trying to make it over. You know, I've had a lot of great counsel from people who've been around there, from Rick Braun and Boney and all those guys who have done this, they were all sidemen as well too, and they all had to make this commitment to stop the well, good-paying gigs to promote their own solo career."
Groove is touring on his own to promote Born 2 Groove this summer. His next tour stop is September 8th at West Bend, Wisconsin's Riverside Park.
