Saxophonist Eric Marienthal is set to deliver Just Around The Corner, his brand new Peak Records CD, due November 16th. The set teams him for the first time with smooth jazz star Brian Culbertson, who produced and co-wrote material for Marienthal's 11th solo disk. The first single, "Blue Water," is a Marienthal-Culbertson composition.
Also contributing to the songwriting on the project are smooth jazz artists Jeff Lorber, Paul Brown, and frequent Culbertson collaborator Stephen Lu. Musicians include drummer Dave Weckl, guitarists Ray Parker Jr., and veteran guitarist Michael O'Neill, among others.
Marienthal says he named the project Just Around The Corner because of the realization of how quickly things change, both personally and professionally. He said: "It's just like life, you know. Every time you wake up in the morning you're saying, what is just around the corner? What's gonna happen today, you know? And this record actually did go very smoothly, but even during a smooth record you're writing music and different things are happening, mostly in a positive way, but you're creating, but you never know what is just around the corner in a lot of things."
Marienthal's previous CD release was 2005's Got You Covered.
