Saxophonist Eric Darius' latest CD, Goin' All Out, is his first for the legendary Blue Note label -- a label known more for catering to jazz aficionados than young people. But Darius says he insists on making music for people of all ages, especially the young: "That was kind of the mindset I went in, into the studio. I wanted to create an album that would have more of a universal appeal. Because one of my passions is young people, and I really want to see younger people listening to more instrumental music."
Goin' All Out is the Florida native's third solo CD, and is the follow-up to Darius' 2006 set Just Getting Started.
Darius is on the smooth jazz airplay chart with the title track single, "Goin' All Out."
Guitarist Norman Brown adds guitar to the upbeat tune "Just For The Moment."
The saxophonist is slated to perform at a handful of events at the Democratic National Convention taking place next month in Denver. For more on his schedule, go to ericdarius.com.
