Dreamgirls actor Eddie Murphy is prepared to sue former girlfriend Melanie "Scary Spice" Brown for continually bad-mouthing him about his treatment of their daughter Angel. Murphy's high-priced attorney Marty Singer sent Brown's camp a "cease and desist" letter warning that if that if the trash-talking and gold-digging attempts don't stop, the lawsuits will start.
Brown contends that Murphy wants nothing to do with their daughter and is thereby neglecting his parental duties. Murphy's people say he has already forked over child support payments and that Brown is milking the situation by wanting Murphy to shell out even more child support and buy a $9 million Malibu mansion so that she can "reside there for free for the next 18 years."
Murphy's legal letter to Brown accuses her of engaging in "a calculated effort to smear his reputation, thereby hoping to induce him to accede to outrageous extortionate demands if he wants you to stop your dissemination of negative statements."
