Influential R&B pop act Earth, Wind & Fire are hitting the road for an annual tour. The popular group will kick off their trek April 18th in Miami, Florida.
In addition, veteran band members Maurice White and Philip Bailey will receive honorary doctor of music degrees from Boston's renowned Berklee College of Music during the school's commencement exercises on May 10th. Bailey will also serve as the commencement speaker.
EWF has been touring the country regularly for several years. In 2005 they had a successful run as co-headliners with the group Chicago. Bassist Verdine White noted that EWF, which also hails from the Windy City, has stood the test of time, much like Chicago: "Our goal was always to have longevity, you know, or at least a certain amount of longevity. And it really comes down to the music, you know, 'cause you know, we are -- I don't say it often, but we are superb musicians, a lot of our work has been stellar. Both bands have made some of the best records ever made so, you know, that stands the test of time."
