Dennis Quaid Suing Drug-Makers Over Infants' Overdose
Dennis Quaid and his wife are suing the makers of the drug heparin after their newborn twins were accidentally given overdoses of the medication while at the hospital. The product liability lawsuit was filed Tuesday (December 4th) in Chicago, and seeks at least $50,000 in damages.
The Quaids are claiming that Baxter Healthcare Corporation was negligent in packaging different doses of the product in similar vials with blue backgrounds and failing to recall them after three infants died from overdoses last year. As a result of the overdose, the couple claims in the suit that, "Zoe Grace and Thomas Boone Quaid suffered and will continue to suffer injuries of a pecuniary nature."
The twins were born to the couple through a surrogate in November.
