David Benoit Shares Thoughts On 'Human Nature'

David BenoitKeyboardist David Benoit's new CD Heroes, pays tribute to artists and music that had a major impact on him as an artist himself. His first single from the set is a version of Michael Jackson's '80s ballad "Human Nature."

Benoit points out that while few would single out Jackson as a lifestyle hero, his music -- particularly from the Thriller era -- certainly had a profoundly positive impact on fans and fellow musicians. Benoit explained: "I think it's kind of unfortunate that all the personal stuff happened with Michael and it got so weird, 'cause we forget what a great impact he's had as an artist, as a musician. And so going back to Thriller, 'Human Nature,' when that first came out it just blew my mind, the production and the way the song felt. And I've always enjoyed it."

Benoit's version of "Human Nature" is one of the fastest-rising tunes on the smooth jazz airplay chart this week.

Heroes is being released May 27th.
