Grammy-nominated saxophonist Dave Koz was among the artists on hand February 6th at the Grammy Style Studio in Hollywood, where nominees, presenters, performers and their stylists can choose from an array of designer clothing, accessories, grooming products and services, as well as snacks and drinks, to get ready for the Grammy Awards on February 10th.
Koz tried on several jackets from one of his favorite designers, Ted Baker, and was accompanied by his publicist. Koz says that while he is interested in the art of fashion, he admitted that he usually needs a second opinion: "I can't be trusted on my own. This is something I've known through my own personal experience that any time I go out on my own to buy something it usually goes back. The stylist takes a look and says, 'What were you thinking?' But when I'm not left to my own devices, I usually come up with good stuff."
Koz, who has been active for years in the Recording Academy as well as music education initiatives, noted that the Style Studio is a great resource for Grammy-bound artists. It's also a cool place to hang out, he said: "You can stay here for a long time because they treat you very well and ply you with wonderful coffee and there's alcoholic beverages there, it's a little early for that. But they make it a very nice experience here and everybody, all the vendors and all the people that are working with these companies are so happy about their product lines and excited to share the new stuff with all the artists coming through. Plus it's Grammy Week."
Koz is competing in the best pop instrumental album category with his CD At The Movies, as well as best pop instrumental performance for the album track "Over The Rainbow."
In addition, the Recording Academy announced February 7th that Koz has been added to the telecast as a performer.
The 50th annual Grammy Awards presentation airs Sunday at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
