Saxophonist Dave Koz is preparing for the release of his very first best-of compilation, due this September from Capitol. Now he's asking his fans to vote for their three all-time favorite Koz songs to help with the track listing.
The popular musician appears in a three-minute video in which he asks fans for their suggestions. He also shares some hilarious "secrets" for how to make a hit single that include wearing a robe, eating cantaloupe, and playing video games. Go to brickmanmedia.com/koz to view the clip.
Koz has been recording for Capitol for two decades now, and since signing on as a solo artist he has branched out into numerous other activities, including broadcasting and running a record label. So does he play the saxophone every day? He answered: "There are these musicians, many of my friends, who can't go a day without playing. I've never been like that, I'm not one of these guys that has to play, probably because I have a lot of other interests. Those interests get fed in different ways, whether it's radio, traveling, working on the record company side, etcetera. But I do love my time with the saxophone, I really do love it, but it doesn't have to be every day."
Meanwhile, Koz will kick off an extensive summer tour of the U.S. on June 6th in El Paso, Texas, playing selections from his Grammy-nominated set At The Movies. For his complete schedule, go to davekoz.com.
