Guitarist and producer Chuck Loeb is gaining on the charts with his single "Good To Go," from his latest Heads Up International CD titled Presence. The busy musician is a veteran who has worked with pop, rock, and jazz artists on the road and in the studio in addition to releasing solo works.
As one of the industry's handful of go-to guitar whizzes, you'd think Loeb would be tempted to show off all his many guitar tricks and licks on a solo set. But Loeb says that at this stage in his career, it's more about connecting with the audience: "As I've gotten older and I think, in general, you can say this about musicians, that it becomes less about chops and showing off your chops and showing off how fast you can play or what cool stuff you can rip off. And to me it becomes more about expressing yourself. A more important thing? I would like to make music that makes people feel good."
Loeb recently completed production on the new CD by his wife, vocalist Carmen Cuesta. The CD is titled You Still Don't Know Me. He has also been working with bassist Gerald Veasley on his next release.
