British-born guitarist Chris Standring has named April 22nd as the U.S. release date for his new CD Love & Paragraphs. The first single is the upbeat title track from the set.
The new set was recorded and produced by Standring at his newly completed home studio in Southern California and mixed by longtime collaborator and keyboardist Rodney Lee. The set features contributions by keyboardist Jeff Lorber and saxophonist Everette Harp, both of whom had toured with Standring on his Soul Express tour in 2007.
In addition to performing on various guitars, Standring also utilizes a talkbox on one of the album's tracks, a trick he also employed on his 2003 set Groovaliscious. He notes that the talkbox has a definite advantage in that it gives the performer perfect pitch: "It just goes through the system. And so I mouth the sounds that I want and it comes through the guitar amp, mixed up with the notes I'm playing. And the really nice thing is, people think I'm singing and they think I sing perfectly in tune. But, in fact, I'm a dreadful singer and everything is corrected, which is really nice."
Love & Paragraphs is Standring's first release on his own imprint, Ultimate Vibe Recordings, which is being distributed by Rick Braun and Richard Elliot's ARTizen Music Group."
