The Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services is investigating "multiple child abuse and neglect" allegations against Britney Spears. The agency made a request to unseal parts of the case file in the ongoing custody battle between Spears and her ex-husband Kevin Federline because there are concerns about the welfare of Sean Preston and Jayden James if they are left in their mother's care. Federline was also mentioned in their investigation referrals.
In the court documents released on Tuesday (December 4th), the agency asked the court not to alter current custody or visitation arrangements until their investigation in complete. Federline has temporary custody of the boys because Spears failed to comply with court-ordered drug tests and parenting classes.
Since 2006 Spears has been investigated for driving with her son on her lap, has faced charges of driving without a valid license, settled a misdemeanor hit-and-run charge and is currently under investigation for injuring a sheriff's deputy while exiting a courthouse in her car.
Meanwhile, US Weekly is exposing the sordid past of Spears' latest confidant, Sam Lufti. The 33-year-old alleged film producer, who's had two restraining orders against him and goes by different aliases, has been acting as the pop star's spokesperson and companion since last summer. Others close to Spears are worried about Lufti's influence on the troubled 26-year-old and believe she is being taken advantage of.
