Beyonce Knowles won't be making her concert debut in Malaysia on November 1st after all. Billboard.com reports that the show was scrapped following protests from local Muslim groups. Although concert promoters didn't give a reason for the cancellation, sources say it came after Beyonce refused to abide by the country's strict dress code for performers. According to the rules introduced by the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage in 2005, clothes can't have obscene or drug-related images or messages, and female performers can't display any skin from the tops of their chests to their knees. Other rules include -- no hugging or kissing audience members or fellow artists, no jumping or shouting, no throwing objects and no foul language.
Beyonce had been scheduled to play Kuala Lumpur's 9,000-seat Putra Stadium.
Beyonce is set to perform in China for the first time on November 5th.
Fellow pop artist Gwen Stefani was also forced to tone down her act for her show at Putra Stadium in August. She ended up wearing jackets over her tops and leotards underneath her skirts and dresses.
