Multiple Grammy winner Alicia Keys is set to deliver her next studio album. Titled I Am, the set is due November 13th on the J Records label. Keys is currently climbing the charts with the first single from the set, "No One," which was written and produced by Keys, longtime collaborator Kerry "Krucial" Brothers, and Dirty Harry. The video for the single, which was shot in Los Angeles, will premiere September 17th on video outlets.
For I Am, Keys decided to collaborate with a new group of songwriters to expand her gifts. In addition to Brothers, she also worked with award-winning songwriters Linda Perry, John Mayer, Harold Lilly, Sean Garrett and producers Mark Batson, Dirty Harry, Swizz Beatz and Jack Splash.
Recently she noted that she was really interested in working with Linda Perry, the former 4 Non Blondes lead singer who has also written for and produced Pink, Christina Aguilera, Gwen Stefani and James Blunt. Said Keys: "I was actually really interested in working with the young lady who I've been working with on my album, Linda Perry. And the music is just .... (sighs, shivers). So she's written with me on a couple of songs on my album, and she is the one I was most interested in working with."
Keys also performed another track from the set, the power ballad "The Thing About Love," on Fashion Rocks, which aired Friday night on CBS.
Keys is the first female R&B artist to have three consecutive Number One debuts on the Billboard 200 album chart in as many releases. She debuted in 2001 with Songs In A Minor, which has sold more than 10 million copies worldwide, according to her label. She followed up with 2004's The Diary of Alicia Keys, which was certified seven-times platinum, and 2005's double-platinum live Unplugged set.
