Alicia Keys Set For Grammy Performance, Launches Keep A Child Alive Initiative

Alicia KeysNine-time Grammy winner Alicia Keys has just been announced as one of the performers for the 50th anniversary edition of the Grammy Awards, set for February 10th in Los Angeles. Keys has two nominations for her hit "No One" at this year's ceremony, for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance and Best R&B Song with co-writers Dirty Harry and Kerry Brothers.

The busy performer has also just announced a new contest in partnership with Seattle-based online and mobile community Treemo. The As I Am online and mobile campaign will support Keep A Child Alive, or KCA.

The campaign is built around the track "Superwoman" from Keys' hit As I Am CD and asks fans to upload a video, text message, or photo at Alicia.Treemo.com explaining why with a story about the superwoman in their lives. Treemo will donate $1 to Keep A Child Alive for every uploaded message.

Participating top 40 radio stations across the country will pick three winners apiece from the entries to compete for the grand prize of an expenses-paid trip to see Keys in concert. Entries must be received by February 28th.

KCA provides comprehensive care to over 20,000 people living with AIDS; including provision of life-saving AIDS medications, nutritional support and treatment for AIDS-related illnesses. For more information, go to keepachildalive.org.

Keys herself was forced to take off a significant amount of time before the release of As I Am to care for a family member and says the experience made her less selfish: "In retrospect it made me much more appreciative, I think, and stronger and even in a way less selfish. Not that I'm a selfish person. But, you know, I don't have kids, so I don't have somebody that I have to look after, you know. When you're in the position to look after somebody it's a very, you know, it's a very special relationship."

Keys will also be a pre-game performer at Super Bowl XLII (42) February 4th, in Phoenix, Arizona.
