Alicia Keys Documentary On African Visits Available For Download

Alicia KeysGrammy winner Alicia Keys was featured on last night's star-studded American Idol: Idol Gives Back telethon. A portion of a documentary chronicling her trips to Africa for her Keep A Child Alive foundation was aired during the special. Now fans can watch the entire documentary, Alicia In Africa, for free via AliciaInAfrica.com. They can also download the piece courtesy of the documentary's exclusive download partner SpiralFrog.com, or check out the documentary at impact.myspace.com.

Keep A Child Alive is a non-profit organization devoted to helping stem the AIDS/HIV epidemic throughout Africa. The film, directed by South African filmmaker Earle Sebastian, follows Keys as she travels to various communities in a handful of African nations, spotlighting healthcare facilities, orphanages, the latest in antiviral drugs, and more.

Keys has earned Grammy Awards for her latest album project, 2007's As I Am. It's an album she wrote after first taking an extended hiatus from the music to be with family and to travel extensively. What she experienced during that time helped her return refreshed to the music industry, as Keys explained: "I had a new vigor in me, a new confidence, a new understanding of the way that the mind is so powerful, and how much you have to protect it and you have to utilize it and use it and do it and be unafraid and unabashed and just go for it and do it, whatever it takes. And that's when I came back."

Keys plans to air the trailer for Alicia In Africa at shows during her upcoming concert tour, which kicks off April 19th in Hampton, Virginia.
