Actor Brad Renfro Dead At 25

Brad RenfroActor Brad Renfro was found dead at his Los Angeles home January 15th. A cause of death is still pending. The 25-year-old star of The Client, Sleepers and Apt Pupil had a history of drug abuse, and was convicted this summer of attempted heroin possession and other drug offenses, but had been attempting to stay clean.

The one-time child star had led a promising career, winning the Hollywood Reporter's YoungStar award in 1995 and being nominated as one of People magazine's "Top 30 Under 30." He also won a Young artist award for the critically acclaimed AIDS film The Cure. In 2005, however, his acting career took a plunge when he was picked up by the Los Angeles police during an undercover sweep of the city's downtown Skid Row area. He had track marks on his arms and admitted to using heroin and methadone. After a drug rehab program, he was sentenced to three years' probation for attempted possession of heroin.

Recently, however, he had returned to acting. He was seen in an episode of Law & Order and just wrapped filming on The Informers, which also stars Billy Bob Thornton and Winona Ryder.

Renfro's body was discovered by his girlfriend at his home on South Ogden Drive in the Wilshire area of Los Angeles. He was declared dead by paramedics at 9 a.m. Foul play is not suspected.
